BELTS & HOSES

A belt or hose failure can cause an overheated engine, loss of power steering, and loss of the electrical charging system. If a hose leaks coolant or the belt turning the water pump snaps, the cooling system is inoperable. If the engine overheats, it can suffer serious internal damage that requires expensive repairs and can ruin a summer vacation.

There are various types of hoses and belts that a vehicle requires to function properly:

  • The Top Radiator Hose moves engine coolant to the radiator for temperature reduction.

  • The Bottom Radiator Hose returns coolant from the radiator to the water pump, and throughout the entire engine, for total temperature control.

  • The Bypass Hose carries cooled fluid from the water pump and past the thermostat for a faster engine warm-up. In addition, it also maintains the car's temperature, a very important feature.

  • The Heater Hose circulates warmed coolant to and from the passenger compartment heating system.

  • The Singular Serpentine Belt winds around your engine, powering the alternator, water pump, power-steering and cooling fans.

  • The Timing Belt keeps the camshaft and crankshaft in sync.

  • The Belt Tensioner is an assembly used to maintain accessory longevity by ensuring belts are pulled to the correct tension.
